MicroBT, a leading innovator in the Bitcoin mining industry, unveiled its latest WhatsMiner M6XS+ series at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, TN. Featuring air cooling, hydrocooling, and immersion cooling models, the new series represents a leap forward in renewable mining technology.

Dr. Zuoxing Yang, Founder and CEO of MicroBT, highlighted these developments in his keynote speech, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient mining practices. According to Dr. Yang, renewable mining is the future of the industry, with solar mining leading the way. He predicted that electricity costs for solar mining could drop to around 4 cents USD per kWh by 2026, saying this would remove the main barrier to the solar mining industry.

MicroBT’s solar mining technology has made significant progress, including the successful pilot of a 100kW project. Dr. Yang announced the upcoming launch of the WhatsMiner solar mining container system and called on industry partners to join in promoting excellence in solar mining.

One of the new features of the WhatsMiner hydro-cooling miner is the high outlet water temperature, which can now reach up to 80℃ (176℉). This enables versatile heat usage, such as agricultural heating, regional heating and grid balancing. MicroBT’s hydro-cooling technology aims to provide a reduced cooling source solution for mining, but also to improve competitiveness in the renewable mining sector.

Dr. Yang also introduced the latest models in the WhatsMiner series:

  • WhatsMiner M60S+ (air cooling): Hashrate up to 210 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 17 J/T.

  • WhatsMiner M63S+ (hydrocooling): Hashrate up to 450 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 17 J/T and an outlet water temperature of 70℃ (158℉).

  • WhatsMiner M64 (hydrocooling): Hashrate up to 206 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 19.9 J/T and an outlet water temperature of 80℃ (176℉).
  • WhatsMiner M66S+ (immersion cooling): Hashrate up to 318 TH/s with an energy efficiency of 17 J/T.

Dr. Yang then promised that more products and solutions would come to market by spring 2025.

Following Dr. Yang’s keynote, Wright Wang, Sales & Marketing Director of MicroBT, participated in a panel discussion with Ghazaleh Barman of Riot Platforms and Niek Beudeker of Peak Mining (part of Northern Data Group). The panel focused on collaboration from manufacturing to mining, with Wang noting that Riot has the largest immersion cooling deployment in the world and Northern Data is ready for a large-scale hydro cooling deployment. With these operations primarily being powered by WhatsMiner products.
