Huawei is gearing up for the launch of the nova Flip, and today the specs of the clamshell have surfaced online. Leaker Digital Chat Station revealed that the new phone will feature a 6.94-inch foldable display – the largest panel on the market, also seen on the Huawei Pocket 2.
The phone also comes with a Kirin 9000 series chip – it is said to be the Kirin 9000S from the nova 12 Ultra or the Kirin 9010 from the Pura 70 seriesor it could be a new SoC.
The phone has already been used by several influencers in China and the first hands-on photos appeared on Weibo.
The inner panel will be an LTPO OLED with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, while the cover screen will be a regular OLED with a refresh rate of up to 60Hz. The diagonal will be 2.14” and we have already seen in official teasers that it will be square and will be placed next to the cameras.
The main camera is a 50MP RYYB sensor that is 1/1.56” in size and has an aperture of f/1.9 at the front. The other camera is an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera that also functions as a super macro camera for close-up photos. The front camera is 32MP behind a punch hole.
The phone comes with a 4,400mAh battery that supports 66W wired charging. Interestingly, this is actually downgraded from the Pocket 2, Huawei’s previous clamshell. We’ll have to wait and see if the nova Flip will offer another type of charging – wireless, reverse wireless or reverse wired.
Huawei will offer the phone with a skin or glass panel on the back, which will affect its thickness and weight. The former option will be 6.88 mm thin (15.08 mm folded) and will weigh 195 grams, while the latter will be 6.9 mm (15.12 mm folded) with a body of 199 grams.
The Huawei nova Flip is expected to launch next week in Green, White, Pink and Black. The phone will have 12GB of RAM and at least three storage combinations: 256GB, 512GB or 1TB. We’ll have to wait and see how much each of them will cost.
