Each Ineos Grenadier at the moment it’s quite a unique and special thing but what if it could more Unique and special? That is what the new Ineos Grenadier Detour is intended to answer. It is the brand’s first special SUV and it is also the first product from the equally new Arcane Works division. It will fulfil the same purpose as the specialist divisions of other brands, such as The Q of Aston Martinin the sense that it will provide buyers with low production and customized products.

The Detour is a modest step into this custom world. Mechanically, nothing major changes, except for a new stainless steel exhaust system that should give the SUV a meaner sound. All other details are aesthetic. There are four exclusive paint to colour offered at no extra cost: a red-orange, an olive green, a blue and a silver. But for a little extra, buyers can have a completely custom color applied to their Detour. The grille and headlight bezels are unique to the Detour, there are some silver accents sprinkled around, the turn signals and taillights have clear lenses and the whole thing sits on exclusive 18-inch forged wheels. Customers also get the choice of gray or white for the skid plates, roof rails and ladder, and that continues into the interior with the same choice of interior trim panels. And again, for a little extra, Ineos offers dark gray wheels, a black-finished exhaust and a custom powder-coated finish for the roof rails. The latter feature is available in a selection of colors to match the exterior colors offered.

In addition to the grey or white trim panels, the interior gets four options of quilted leather upholstery in blue, brown, white or black. The headliner is finished in one of two cashmere shades (light or dark grey). Ineos also includes machined metal buttons for the infotainment controller and transfer case gear lever. Of course, there’s scope for a little more customisation, with available embroidery on the seat backs and customisable aluminium treadplates.

There’s no price tag for the Ineos Grenadier Detour, but that might not be the biggest hurdle to getting your hands on one. Only 200 Detours will be built, and that appears to be worldwide. So if you want one, visit the Ineos Grenadier website or your local retailer to register your interest in ordering one.
