Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone 16 lineup in September and it has reportedly set a shipment target of 90 million iPhone 16 units. To meet the target, Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn has hired 50,000 new workers at its factory in Zhengzhou, China, reports BusinessKorea.
The peak season for iPhone production typically begins in August and ends in December. To help ramp up production of the iPhone 16 by hiring new workers, Foxconn began offering a higher hourly wage of up to 25 yuan (about 4,800 won) in late July.
The Taiwanese manufacturer also raised the hiring bonus from 6,000 yuan to 7,500 yuan for its Zhengzhou factory, the world’s largest iPhone production base.
