The second-generation model brings several changes. First of all, the design of the earbuds has been completely redesigned with a much smaller shape that Google says makes them the most comfortable earbuds. However, the case design remains largely unchanged, aside from the addition of a small speaker at the bottom.

Inside the earbuds is a new Google Tensor A1 chip, which is more powerful than the Buds Pro’s chip and can reportedly deliver twice the noise cancellation performance. Audio processing is also claimed to have been improved and while the drivers appear to be the same 11mm dynamic units as before, there is now a new high-frequency chamber for better treble. You get spatial audio with head tracking, but the codecs are still limited to SBC and AAC.

Other features include multipoint pairing, AI-powered Clear Calling, beam-forming microphones, call detection and Hearing Wellness features. You also get 8 hours of continuous audio playback with ANC and 12 hours without.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 cost $229 and come in four colors: Hazel, Porcelain, Peony, and the Wintergreen pictured here. We are currently working on our review and expect it to go live soon.
