We have one vivo V40 Pro in the office and the assessment is almost done. Not completely, but we can already tell how the large 5,500 mAh battery performed in our tests. The phone is quite slim at 7.6mm, making that capacity particularly impressive for a Li-Ion power cell. According to vivo’s research, the V40 Pro (along with the V40) is the thinnest phone with a 5,500 mAh battery.

Our vivo V40 Pro battery life test is ready

The old vivo V30 Pro had a smaller 5,000 mAh battery despite the same screen size (6.78”). It also used a lower-end chipset, Dimensity 8200 instead of the flagship Dimensity 9200+ in the V40 Pro. Overall battery life between the two is similar, but the new model lasted longer in the calling test (almost 10 hours more) and gaming (3 hours more), although it fell short in the web and video tests (by 3 and 5 hours). respectively).

The Xiaomi 14T Pro has a smaller 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.67-inch display and uses the newer Dimensity 9300+ chipset. The Xiaomi’s overall battery life is lower, with the vivo coming out ahead in the gaming, calling and browsing tests, but it didn’t last as long in video playback.

A Realme GT 6 with a 5,500 mAh battery, a 6.78-inch display and a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset wins the day with about an hour more active usage score. It achieved even longer call times, but gaming drained the battery faster. It was really the impressive video time (the phone lasts over 19 hours) that pushed the overall score up.

The vivo V40 Pro comes with an 80W charger and a USB-C cable. We’ll test the loading speed – that (and more) will be part of the full review, coming soon.
