Samsung started teasing the Galaxy Ring end of February and then released the product five months later. The wearable has been sold in a number of markets for a while, and the company decided to share more hands-on experience from its own personal point of view long after. the reviews were out.
The company shared some cool videos showcasing the user experience while unboxing the new wearable. The Galaxy Ring comes in a clear plastic case, packaged in a neat black box.
The ring sits in the center of the case, with an LED light around the device to indicate battery capacity. The Galaxy Ring is available in eight sizes, from 5 to 13 in US sizes.
Samsung offers the Galaxy Ring in three color finishes for the titanium casing: black, silver and gold.
The charging case can indicate the battery level at the press of the middle button and the battery can be filled via the USB-C port. Samsung’s article didn’t mention that, but wireless charging is also supported.
The company was keen to point out that washing your hands with the Galaxy Ring is absolutely fine as it is 10 ATM water resistant.
The ring has three sensors on the inside: for skin temperature, heart rate and an accelerometer. These keep track of all kinds of health data and then visualize it in the Samsung Health app. Interestingly, Samsung says the Galaxy Ring app “must be paired with a Galaxy smartphone first,” but in reality it works with any phone with the Health app installed.
Samsung left one important question at the end of the unboxing: how can you find the right size for you? When you make a purchase through Samsung’s online store, you will first be sent a free sizing kit so you can choose the right size. Or you can just pop into a Samsung Experience Store if you have one nearby.
Samsung Galaxy Ring supports some air gestures, but according to the fine print they only work with devices running One UI 6.1.1, which only supports the Galaxy Z Fold6 And Galaxy Z Flip6.
