Spotify has announced a new partnership that will add more than 1,000 new audiobooks to its library.
The Swedish streaming platform has partnered with Bloomsbury, one of the UK’s largest publishers, to release titles such as Want, the recent number one best-selling title collected by Gillian Anderson.
Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s director of audiobook partnerships and licensing, announced the partnership on the one-year anniversary of adding audiobooks to Premium. The catalog has been expanded to include “an array of great titles from critically acclaimed authors,” including Sarah J. Maas, William Dalrymple, Alan Moore, Madeline Miller, Dan Jones, Samantha Shannon and Ann Patchett.
The titles of these authors are combined with stories by top talent such as Meryl Streep, Emilia Clarke, Adjoa Andoh and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Sam Halstead, director of audio at Bloomsbury, added that this partnership brings authors and storytellers to as many listeners as possible.
Spotify added that the company has paid “hundreds of millions of dollars to publishers annually” since launching audiobooks.
