As planned, Nio held his Innovation Day event in Shanghai today and one of the hot ticket items was the new Nio Phone 2. Apparently Nio is sticking to its plan to release phones annually and is even ahead of schedule, given how the original Nio phone came out in September last year.

The Nio Phone2 is official with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 120Hz LTPO display

The Nio Phone2 looks very similar to the original in terms of design and quite high-end specifications. The biggest attraction of the Nio Phone2 is of course the deep integration between the phone and the impressive list of electric vehicles. Like the original Nio Phone, the Nio Phone2 has a dedicated button on the left side of the frame to control connected car functions. Now, the long-press action on that button can be customized to a phone action of your choice.

The Nio Phone2 also doubles as a car key, of course. The system features UWB and Bluetooth for supported cars, making it more secure. Additionally, UWB should make it easier to find your car, on top of other useful features like the ability to record the car’s location and parking space number after it’s automatically parked. There’s also NFC key support.

Nio Link is another useful feature that allows you to communicate with your phone through the car’s infotainment system. Support has been expanded to include more phone apps, including gallery, file browsing, various office apps and chat clients.
