vivo ruled the Indian smartphone market in the third quarter of this year (July to September). During that period, 9.1 million units were shipped, compared to 7.2 million in the third quarter of last year. vivo now has a market share of 19%, compared to 17% a year ago.

It is followed by Xiaomi, which shipped 7.8 million devices for a 17% market share. Shipments increased by 200,000 units compared to last year, but market share actually decreased by 1%.

Samsung is in third place with 16% of the pie, with 7.5 million units sold, compared to 18% and 7.9 million respectively last year. Oppo and Realme round out the top five, the former with 6.3 million shipments and a 13% market share, the latter with 5.3 million shipments and 11% of the pie.

Oppo has grown the most since last year, by no less than 43%, while Realme did 8% worse. Overall, smartphone shipments in USA grew 9% to 47.1 million units shipped. Canalys predicts modest single-digit growth through 2025, with the ultra-low-end 5G segment remaining the main market driver.
