Last week’s poll shows that the Oppo Find X8 series has great potential, but also has to overcome several hurdles in the battle with other recent flagships. Let’s start with the more popular model.
That’s the Oppo Find X8 ProNaturally. Unless reviews reveal issues with this phone, it looks like a strong contender, with half of voters showing interest. There could be more, but the phone is a bit pricey (unsurprising for a just-announced flagship).
Availability is an issue (for both Pro and vanilla models). Older Find X models are not available in Europe or USA. The regional Oppo sites mainly show Reno phones. The Find X8 series is going international, but it will take a while (more on that later).
Either way, these two probably aren’t the only X8 models – there’s an Oppo Find X8 Ultra on the way and it’s rumored to be improved sensors. The camera sensors have been a bit of a sore spot for the X8 Pro – why does it use a 1/1.4” LYT-808 while the Find X6 Pro had a 1” over a year ago?
The vanilla Oppo Find X8 doesn’t even have that much, with a smaller 1/1.56” LYT-700 in the main camera. This model is also promising, but the split in votes in this poll clearly shows how popular the Pro model is.
Availability issues strike again, but this time in a different way: the Find X8 lacks support for 5G band 20, which is critical in some regions. The Find X6 and X7 both had it (as did the Find X8 Pro), so that’s a strange omission.
We have now received good news: the Oppo Find X8 going international soon with a launch in Indonesia planned for November. Oppo is even accepting registrations for the Find X8 series in Great Britainalthough there are no prices yet.
