It looks like the Pro skips a generation, so Realme went from the GT 5 Pro to the Realme GT 7 Pro with the GT 6 and GT 6T in the middle. The 6 Series offered great value at mid-range prices, but the extra budget of the Pro model makes for some pretty impressive stats.
Let’s start with the display. It’s a 6.78” LTPO panel with a resolution of 1,264 x 2,780 px – the same as many other GT models. However, this has been developed by Samsung to be both super efficient and super bright (up to 6,000 nits). Like many other brands, Realme has ditched the optical fingerprint reader in favor of an ultrasonic one.
You also get the latter Snapdragon 8 Elite and a large battery – 6,500 mAh for the Chinese device, but the one in USA gets a smaller 5,800 mAh. That is still the largest battery in the GT family. Another first is that this is the first Realme phone with an IP68 rating and it also has IP69.
The GT series is known for its performance, battery technology and to some extent displays. But lately it’s also been taking cameras seriously. This generally has a 50 MP 1/1.56” sensor (IMX906), a 50 MP 3x telephoto (a longer 73mm lens, 1/1.95” IMX882) and still an 8 MP ultra-wide angle. 8K video recording is an option, although it tops out at 24fps.
The Realme GT 7 Pro will launch in China, starting at CNY 3,600 for a 12/256GB device. That’s around $505/€465, but we don’t have global pricing yet.
That price is considerably lower than some other Snapdragon 8 Elite models. For example, the OnePlus 13 costs CNY 4,500 for the same memory configuration. And the Xiaomi 15 Pro costs CNY 5,300. Dimensity 9400 models like the vivo X200 Pro (5,300 CNY) and Oppo Find X8 Pro (5,300 CNY) are also overpriced. To be fair, these are more premium offerings and have the upper hand in some areas, but they may be above your budget.
The iQOO 13 comes close with a price tag of CNY 4,000. It also uses the 8 Elite and has an IP68/IP69 rating. The screen is different, a 6.82-inch panel with a higher 1440p+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The battery (in the Chinese unit) is smaller at 6,150 mAh. The camera setup gets a better 50MP ultra-wide angle at the expense of the telephoto module – it has a smaller 50MP sensor (1/2.93” vs. 1/1.95”) and a shorter 46mm lens (2x) .
The Xiaomi 14T Pro isn’t available in China so we can’t do a direct price comparison, but it costs €800 in Western markets. It uses the older Dimensity 9300+ and a 6.67-inch 12-bit 144Hz display (no LTPO panel). The main camera boasts a large 1/1.31” 50MP sensor, but the telephoto has a small 1/2.88” sensor behind the 60mm lens (2.6x). The ultra-wide angle is slightly better, but still not great at 12 MP. This phone has a 5,000mAh battery and an IP68 rating.
The Realme GT 7 Pro will take on other competitors soon enough, we’ll know more when the company announces its plans for a global rollout. The launch for USA is scheduled for November 26 when the GT 7 Pro becomes the country’s first Snapdragon 8 Elite phone.
We’ll have a review soon enough, in the meantime tell us what you think of the Realme GT 7 Pro.
