Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, co-founders of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, have donated 30.94 Bitcoin, worth over $2 million, to the campaign of former President Donald Trump. Both Cameroon And Tyler Winklevoss announced on their X accounts that they each donated 15.47 BTC ($1 million) to Trump to “end the Biden administration’s war on crypto,” Cameron said, in response to the twins’ dissatisfaction with the Biden administration’s stance on cryptocurrency regulation.

Tyler Winklevoss criticized the Biden administration for its hostile approach to the crypto industry, accusing it of weaponizing government agencies to stifle innovation and target crypto firms. “The Biden administration has consistently attacked corporate America on all fronts, turning its greatest heroes into villains,” he stated. He went on to highlight the administration’s actions, including “Operation Choke Point 2.0,” in which federal agencies reportedly pressured banks to avoid crypto firms. Tyler argued that these tactics are detrimental to the American economy and innovation.

Tyler also criticized the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for failing to create clear regulations for cryptocurrencies and instead applying outdated laws. He claimed that the SEC’s approach was hindering the utility and growth of digital assets.
The Winklevoss twins believe Trump’s pro-Bitcoin, pro-business stance is crucial to the future of the country’s crypto industry. Tyler stressed the need for a political shift to prevent further damage to the industry and restore an environment conducive to innovation and economic growth.
