Have you ever fallen asleep to a YouTube video, only to wake up hours later with your history full of autoplay next video after autoplay next video? Well, in that case, you’ve probably a sleep timerand luckily, YouTube now offers just that.

But it’s limited to YouTube Premium subscribers. And it’s an experimental test feature. And perhaps most annoyingly, the test will only run until September 2. After that, the feature could either make its way to YouTube, with the experimental training wheels thrown off, or it could disappear for good, there’s absolutely no way to tell at this point.

YouTube Premium subscribers get a sleep timer

If you have a Premium subscription and want to try the sleep timer, go to this page and enable it. Once you do that, whenever you open YouTube on your phone or desktop, you can navigate to the settings menu while a video is playing to set the sleep timer to the interval you want it to stop playing. It’s that simple. Let’s hope this isn’t just a one-time experiment and that it sticks around.
